pah imageDear PAH members,

I would like to thank all active members for voting regarding our bylaws, they were approved unanimously. And I am happy share a very exciting news with you. PAH became officially incorporated as a non profit as of last week, June 11, 2016 to be precise.
Thus I am an official president of a non profit now and would like to keep everyone informed and connected through a biweekly President’s letter. This is the first issue. 🙂

I am very grateful to everyone who made it possible for us to become an official non profit. I would like to thank all active members-for your annual dues, for spreading the word about PAH, and for your participation in discussions and voting regarding the future direction of our organization. I would like to thank the PAH Board members for their relentless work behind the scenes. I am also grateful to our attorney for all the legal consulting work done on behalf of the organization.  Thank you Ginger, our web administrator, for designing and maintaining our website and social media outreach.
And to many friends and allies that support our organization- your valuable advice and pro-bono work is much appreciated!!!

I would like to briefly recap what PAH accomplished so far this year and our plans for the near future.

As you are well aware, we held annual winter retreat in Scottsdale, Arizona in January. It was a huge success. We had excellent presentations recorded by a professional videographer, some of which have been posted online for free. Some will be available only to paid members in the near future. We had two distinguished keynote speakers: Dr Randolph Nesse and Dr Michael Eades, their excellent presentations are available online on our website under resources tab, videos.  Networking was great during the retreat and we had active movement sessions a few times a day led by a special guest, Darryl Edwards from London, UK, who is a work class functional movement expert and a founder of primal play.

Five other conferences had PAH representation between February and May:
Low carb Vail, in February, organised by our own Jeffry Gerbr. PAH presenters Cate Shanahan, Jason Fung, Mike Eades, Peter Brukner.

Low carb cruise, April, with PAH speakers: Jeffry Gerber, Adam Nally and Ann Childers. Lowcarbcruiseinfo.com

Harvard medical school lifestyle medicine: tools for change, May,  attended by me. It was great! Hopefully next year more people will be able to attend. They also host Active Lives conference every December.

Food Loose, May, hosted in Reykjavik, Iceland by Gudmunder Johannsson and speakers: Axel Sigurdsson and Tommy Wood, all PAH members. Carol Loffelman attended the conference and had such a good time that I was surprised she returned to Canada! 🙂 Icelandichealthsymposium.is

Paleo Fx in Austin, Texas, May, attended by Lauren Jefferis, Doris Hasslocher, Cate Shanahan, Ronald Primas, and myself (photos above). Paleofx.com

More detailed reports about those conferences are to follow.

We are a growing organization with members from multiple states within the USA, as well as other countries, including Canada, Iceland, U.K., Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. If any of you wish to share anything with other PAH members or general public, publish a blog post on our website, etc.- please let me know, that would be great! We are always looking for content to share with our members and other people interested in ancestral principles.

Another exciting news is that the American Academy of Family Physicians approved a formation of a Lifestyle Medicine Member Interest Group, which provides us with a platform to influence the education of US family physicians, residents and medical students and to prevent burnout. If you would like to share anything with that group, please let me know, I am one of the organizers and look for interesting and relevant info to share with that group.

Our next big project is planning of the PAH winter retreat 2017. Please save the dates: January 19-21. At the previous retreat the vote of the group was to hold 2017 retreat near Miami and the following year, in 2018 in San Diego, California, to make it easier for our international members to attend our annual retreats, which are usually the highlights of the year.  Retreat planning usually requires a lot of effort and any help will be much appreciated. If you are interested to help or have any local connections in or near Miami, please let me know. We need to find the venue urgently.

I would also like to keep you informed about other ancestral health conferences that are coming up:
Paleo convention, August 6 and 7, Berlin, Germany.  paleoconvention.de

Ancestral health symposium in Boulder, Colorado, August 11-13.

Please keep in touch and let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or what other info you would like to see in the future president`s letter.

With the warmest wishes,

Polina Sayess, M.D.
